Back in August, Star Wars Outlaws stumbled a bit out of the gate. The launch was marred by a less-than-stellar critical response and a suite of technical glitches that ranged from minor visual hiccups to outright game-breaking bugs. Among the most notorious glitches was a bug that forced some PS5 users to delete their save files entirely just to clear up some serious technical mess, wiping away their progress in the blink of an eye.
Since then, Star Wars Outlaws has made impressive strides forward. Ubisoft has been on the ball, attentively listening to player feedback and diligently rolling out updates that have steadily enhanced the gameplay experience. Yet, all the earlier updates seem like small potatoes compared to the latest Title Update. This massive overhaul is loaded with fixes and fresh features that tackle some of the community’s biggest gripes head-on.
The new 1.4.0 update is a game-changer, particularly when it comes to stealth mechanics. Previously, being spotted in one of the game’s stealth sequences often meant instant mission failure. But that’s history now! Players no longer face automatic failure when detected and aren’t forced into stealth mode while navigating through syndicate-occupied locations.
This update also revamps the detection system, offering players critical feedback when an enemy starts spotting them. It even gives a visual cue if a sneak attack is likely to raise the alarm among nearby foes. Plus, stealth tweaks have refined the AI, ensuring whistling doesn’t just attract one lone guard anymore.
Combat has seen an exciting overhaul as well. Enemies now sport weak points — strike those spots, and you’ll see specific death animations unfold. Kay’s blaster feels snappier too, with adjusted recoil and spread rewarding accurate shots. And headshots? They pack way more punch post-update. Enemies are smarter, more strategic, taking cover more often, and now they stagger when caught in the vicinity of an explosion.
Kay’s arsenal is more versatile — now you can holster heavier weapons when racing on a speeder or engaging in some rock climbing. It’s a nice touch that adds to the fluidity of combat and movement.
Visually, the game has polished up its look, particularly with the often-bemoaned dialogue sequences. The 1.4.0 update brings fresh facial animations and gives cinematic scenes a much-needed facelift, ironing out the murky visual woes.
And if that doesn’t tempt you, perhaps the brand-new DLC will. The first story expansion, ‘Wild Card,’ ropes in the charming Lando Calrissian, teaming up with Kay Vess for a high-stakes Sabacc tournament sure to thrill fans.
In Star Wars Outlaws, players navigate a first-ever open-world Star Wars adventure, taking on daring missions and exploring a galaxy peppered with opportunity. Engage in everything from space dogfights in The Trailblazer to sneaky stealth and heists galore, all while shaping your reputation in a universe that places a premium on boldness and cunning.
Whether you’ve been on board since day one or have been waiting for improvements, Star Wars Outlaws’ latest updates and content offerings make now a fantastic time to dive into this galaxy far, far away.
