Halfbrick Studios, alongside Ian Fitz, the original mastermind behind The Thrill of the Fight (2016), have finally unveiled the eagerly anticipated second installment of this hit boxing simulator. Now available on Quest, the sequel enters the scene in Early Access.
This newly imagined follow-up to the beloved game has launched on various Quest headsets, including the Quest 2, Quest 3, Quest 3S, and Quest Pro. Unlike its predecessor, which focused solely on player-versus-environment battles, The Thrill of the Fight 2 introduces an exciting addition as it rolls out today: online player-versus-player boxing.
In a statement, Halfbrick Studios explains that this early version of the game is dedicated exclusively to multiplayer modes. This approach caters to fans who have been eagerly waiting to test their skills online, providing them a chance to dive in immediately. Meanwhile, single-player content and further enhancements for multiplayer are in the pipeline, scheduled to join the roster throughout the Early Access phase.
Looking ahead, the team plans to continue development into 2025, promising single-player content that will feature competitive AI with unique behaviors and appearances, alongside extra training modes and more. Future updates during Early Access are set to enrich the game, adding depth and refinement for a truly immersive boxing experience.
As it stands today, players can enjoy customizable avatars, an online PvP mode with skill-based matchmaking, and physics that aim to deliver another layer of realistic boxing dynamics. The game also introduces a spectator camera, allowing friends or fans to enjoy your matches with a live sports-style perspective via a connected PC.
The Thrill of the Fight 2 is ready for download today on the Horizon Store, retailing at a wallet-friendly price of $10.
