Over the past year, it’s been incredible to watch the support and engagement for the Xbox app on Windows PC expand. We’re thrilled to announce that the new Home experience we’ve been beta testing with Xbox Insiders is now rolled out for all users. This update makes navigating the Xbox app smoother and quicker, helping players dive into their favorite games and uncover exciting new ones with ease.
The Home section now showcases featured content, keeping players up-to-date with the latest game releases, events, Game Pass additions, sales, and more. It also introduces new handpicked collections and personalized recommendations, along with deals and discounts. Plus, the “Jump back in” feature in Compact Mode allows players to effortlessly resume any game from the game’s hub by just clicking on the game card.
While many use the app to explore and play popular titles available on Game Pass, the Xbox app also stands out as a fantastic platform for discovering Xbox games that aren’t part of a Game Pass subscription.
Earlier this summer, we teamed up with partners to integrate all PC games featuring Xbox elements into the Xbox app. We’re buzzing with excitement about the new Xbox titles coming to Windows PC, adding nearly 400 games that were previously hard to find or purchase through the app.
This lineup includes numerous games from esteemed Japanese developers like Kemco and Kairosoft, as well as popular titles such as “Shovel Knight Treasure Trove” by Yacht Club, “The Jackbox Party Pack,” “The Invincible” by Double 11, and many others.
Notably, over 100 of these newly introduced games are Xbox Play Anywhere titles. What this means for players is that if they purchase a game for their Xbox console, they can also enjoy its PC version, and vice versa. This seamless Xbox ownership, coupled with universal cloud saves and cross-platform play between Xbox consoles and PCs—and potentially other platforms at the developer’s discretion—are features players absolutely love.
As the Windows handheld gaming scene continues to grow, this is an excellent opportunity for developers to connect with players right where they are, offering the freedom to play games with friends, wherever they might be.
Lastly, if your game is recently added to the app and supports cross-entitlements, please make sure this is listed in your game’s capabilities section. This way, we can assist in spreading the word!
