Developer FuturLab has made the tough call to stop supporting the VR version of PowerWash Simulator. In a candid update shared on BlueSky, Kirsty Rigden, the studio’s CEO, expressed FuturLab’s ongoing enthusiasm for VR technology. However, she noted the financial strain they faced with the platforms they were working on. Although Rigden didn’t specify which platforms, it’s worth noting that PowerWash Simulator VR was released on Meta’s Quest 2, 3, and Pro headsets.
Rigden wrote, “We found ourselves at a crucial juncture: we have an incredible VR team full of skilled and kind individuals, but the platform was costing us more than it was bringing in. At the same time, we had several job opportunities open for other projects.”
“In light of these realities,” she continued, “we decided to redirect our VR team’s talents to those other roles and projects. Ideally, I’d love to support PowerWash Simulator on every possible platform, but my priority is always my team’s job security. I know this decision might be disappointing, but I believe many would make the same choice in my shoes.”
PowerWash Simulator has been a hit since its launch in 2021, attracting over 12 million players. Its VR edition made its debut in November 2023, showing the studio’s commitment to expanding its reach.
