Step into the wild world of Synth Beasts, where you begin your journey as a “Synth,” a failed experiment that has just made a daring escape from a secretive lab nestled on a mysterious island. As you venture across the sprawling archipelago, you’ll cross paths with other Synths. Don’t expect a warm welcome, though—these encounters quickly turn into battles. But fear not, for emerging victorious allows you to add these formidable foes to your roster. With each new Synth, you’ll gain access to their distinct abilities, which prove invaluable in combat and while exploring the world around you.
As you deploy your Synths in skirmishes, they earn experience points, inching closer to leveling up. Each Synth evolves through five levels, each packed with unique perks that enhance their capabilities. As your Synths grow stronger, accumulating more experience points becomes a bit trickier. Therefore, rotating them frequently can be a smart strategy to unlock a broader range of abilities and ensure your team reaches its potential.
Take the “Psitek” Synth, for example. Right from the get-go, it can light torches, but by the time it hits level three, it boasts the remarkable ability to obliterate incoming projectiles with a fiery slash—a skill you’ll find indispensable in certain dungeon challenges. However, most of its subsequent upgrades are focused on boosting combat prowess. To truly diversify your abilities without the grind, it might be worthwhile to switch to a different Synth.
Early on in your quest, you’ll stumble upon a boat—a relic left behind by the scientists that you can now commandeer. This vessel opens up the Genesis Archipelago, a labyrinth of islands teeming with secrets to discover and treasures to collect, from extra heart containers to stat-enhancing items and even shiny loot for the in-game shops. If you’re not the type to leave no stone unturned, you can push straight for the main islands where the scientists plot, taking the fight directly to them.
The game’s main islands are home to boss-level Synths, while the optional islands harbor others waiting to be uncovered. With over 40 Synths to capture, the task is monumental, but the Genesis Archipelago is generous with rewards for those daring enough to explore its furthest reaches.
