Gaijin Entertainment, the creative force behind the popular game War Thunder launched in 2013, has some exciting news. They are gearing up to release their highly anticipated aerial VR combat game, Aces of Thunder, which will soar onto PSVR 2 and PC VR headsets within this year.
Back in 2023, Aces of Thunder was first unveiled with a set expectation of hitting the virtual skies by the fourth quarter of 2024. The aim was to bring an impressive lineup of the world’s most iconic warplanes from World War to fans of SteamVR and PSVR 2.
In the lead-up, Gaijin has been showcasing an intriguing variety of planes, expanding not only with aircraft from WWII but also adding some fascinating machines from WWI into the mix.
“We are thrilled to include legendary fighters such as the Fokker Dr.I, piloted by the renowned Red Baron, and the SPAD S.XIII, the pride of René Fonck, the Allies’ most celebrated ace. These planes will boast meticulously detailed cockpits, historically accurate weaponry, and flight models rooted in realism, all set to provide a deeply immersive gameplay experience,” said the studio.
These exciting additions complement the lineup of WWII aircraft ready for action, which includes the likes of the American P-51 Mustang and P-63 Kingcobra, the German Bf 109 and Fw 190, the Soviet IL-2 attack plane, the British Spitfire, and the Japanese A6M3 Zero.
While the specific release date for Aces of Thunder remains a bit of a mystery, the developers recently mentioned to Road to VR that it is now “slated for 2025.” Until then, fans can add it to their wishlist on Steam and the PlayStation Store for PSVR 2 to stay in the loop.
As for the pricing, that’s still under wraps. However, rest assured, we’re keeping our ears to the ground and eyes to the sky for any updates on Aces of Thunder.
