Hunters around the globe, brace yourselves for 2025 because the much-anticipated release of Monster Hunter Wilds is nearly upon us. We’re thrilled to share the newest trailer alongside details about the second open beta test, OBT2.
Let’s dive into the exciting revelations from the latest trailer.
In the spotlight is a newly revealed environment: the Iceshard Cliffs. This breathtaking icy terrain is where the hunter and Expedition Team embark on their latest adventure. Covered in relentless snowstorms, this locale challenges you to tackle its monstrous inhabitants. As you navigate through these frosty conditions, you’ll spot collapsed debris and mysterious shapes swirling in the cold wind, a testament to the area’s unique character. Remember to sip a hot drink to fend off the chilling blizzards and stay in prime condition!
The Iceshard Cliffs are a haven for creatures that have adapted to survive its harsh climate. Meet Rove, a wandering Wudwud who’s found himself far from home in this unforgiving land.
Speaking of inhabitants, Hirabami, a type of leviathan, thrives here. Sporting sharp claws and a neck membrane for floating, it’s a creature of both beauty and danger. Our latest trailer teases an encounter with a large, enigmatic monster attacking a group of Hirabami. Then there’s Nerscylla, a returning Temnoceran with a lethal horn capable of taking down prey in a single strike, shown in an intense scene where it attempts to capture a Gypceros. But the plot thickens when the fearsome Gore Magala ambushes Fabius and his Expedition Team. What challenges will this fan-favorite monster bring in the full game? Prepare for an epic showdown!
Unravel the enigma of Arkveld, the game’s flagship monster. This latest sneak peek reveals more about its chain-like appendages and unforgiving nature as it battles Rey Dau, the apex predator of the Windward Plains.
Now, let’s talk about when you can dive into OBT2. Scheduled for February, with two sessions to choose from, you’ll have ample opportunity to experience the game’s excitement ahead of its official release. Pre-load starts February 5th—mark your calendars!
OBT2 offers the same content as the previous beta, including Character Creation, Story Trial, and a Doshagma Hunt. But that’s not all—the vicious Arkveld awaits you in an advanced quest, challenging even seasoned hunters. Plus, the Training Area is open for you to hone your skills. Remember, OBT2 doesn’t reflect all the final adjustments coming in the full release.
Players can also create private lobbies and engage in Online Single Player mode, complete with an SOS Flare to briefly team up with others. Whether you’re revisiting from the first beta or experiencing it for the first time, OBT2 promises new thrills and challenges.
All PlayStation 5 users can participate, with PS5 Pro players receiving full support in the complete game via a day 1 patch. Your progress and created characters from both betas will transfer to the final game, although some customization values might vary slightly.
As a token of appreciation, everyone participating in OBT2 earns a Felyne pendant and a Bonus Item pack in the full version. If you joined the initial beta, rest assured these rewards are reserved for you at launch.
Monster Hunter Wilds launches on February 28th, and we can’t thank our hunters enough for their unwavering support. Pre-load the game if you’ve pre-ordered through the PlayStation Store, and jump straight into the action on release day. We look forward to welcoming you into the Forbidden Lands. Adventure awaits!
