Have you been eagerly waiting for NetEase Games to introduce a role lock in Marvel Rivals? Well, the wait is over, but it’s not quite what you might have expected. They’re bringing us a fresh gaming experience with a twist, called ‘Clone Rumble’. Rather than reimagining Overwatch’s queue and balance system, this new mode limits each team to just two hero choices. So, if you’ve ever wished to deliberately mirror your opponents, this is your moment.
Here’s how ‘Clone Rumble’ works: both teams vote on one hero to include in the match, and then every player can pick from those two heroes. Imagine teams composed entirely of Groot creating impenetrable walls, Luna Snow unleashing a barrage of powerful ultimates, or Adam Warlock performing endless revivals. It promises to be absolute chaos, but figuring out what’s happening? Well, that’s a whole other challenge.
Marvel Rivals’ traditional team strategies are being tossed aside as identical abilities stack up, leading to potentially unstoppable combinations. While it might sound unbalanced, the thought of bombarding the enemy with six simultaneous Scarlet Witch ultimates is strangely satisfying.
As part of the event, there’s a board game element too, offering a slew of nameplates, emotes, sprays, and units available—320 by my count! For those keen on accumulating extra in-game currency for their next Marvel Rivals skin, tackling these event challenges is the way to go. Plus, you can snag a Black Widow costume styled as an old western gunslinger, echoing her look from the 1872 comic where she weds Bucky Barnes. Isn’t that enticing enough to dive into the mayhem?
NetEase Games has slated the Clone Rumble event to begin on Friday, March 7, though the end date is still under wraps.
