Acer has recently unveiled an exciting new lineup of Radeon RX 9070 series graphics cards, which includes six models with impressive base and overclocked configurations, capable of hitting boost clocks of up to 3.1 GHz.
In a splashy announcement, Acer introduced its latest RDNA 4 GPUs via the sleek BiFrost and Nitro editions. Though Acer isn’t as entrenched in AMD card production as some of its competitors, this launch marks a significant expansion with six total models, evenly split between the two lines.
The lineup showcases two Nitro versions each for the Radeon RX 9070 XT and Radeon RX 9070, complemented by BiFrost versions for both GPUs. The BiFrost editions stand out with their superior aesthetics and advanced cooling technology, making them the flagship offerings, while the Nitro editions are targeted towards mainstream consumers, yet don’t compromise on robust specifications.
Let’s start with the BiFrost editions. The Acer BiFrost Radeon RX 9070 XT OC 16 GB steals the show with its triple-fan cooling system encased in a sleek shroud accented by stylish silverfish touches around the central fan. This cooler integrates Acer’s FrostBlade 4.0 fans and a smart counter-spin technology to efficiently disperse heat. Measuring approximately 295 mm long and at 2.5 slots thick, this factory-overclocked beast is tuned to go up to a speedy 3.1 GHz, promising gamers a top-notch experience.
Moving to the Acer BiFrost Radeon RX 9070 OC 16 GB, it mirrors the XT version in design but opts for two 8-pin power connectors instead of the three found on the XT. Intriguingly, despite being rated at 340W like its XT sibling, the RX 9070 generally demands less power. While these connectors and the PCI-E x16 slot cover the 340W requirement, overclocking potential isn’t as liberal as with the BiFrost RX 9070 XT OC.
Next, the Acer Nitro series enters the scene, boasting both non-overclocked and overclocked variants for each of the RX 9070 cards. The Acer Nitro Radeon RX 9070 XT OC model features a triple-fan setup and can achieve the same 3.1 GHz boost clock, maintaining the same dimensions as the BiFrost edition. This version is also powered by three 8-pin power connectors and claims a 340W thermal design power. Conversely, its non-overclocked counterpart, while utilizing the same connectors and having a TDP of 304W, reaches up to 2970 MHz in boost mode and 2.4 GHz during gaming.
Additionally, the Acer Nitro Radeon RX 9070 OC and the RX 9070 16 GB rounds out the offerings, with clock speeds capping at 2.7 GHz and 2.52 GHz, respectively. The overclocked model requires 245W, while the non-overclocked uses 220W, yet they maintain a consistent design profile.
As for pricing, Acer has disclosed the cost of some of its cards. The Acer Nitro Radeon RX 9070 XT OC 16 GB commands a hefty $829.99, and it’s anticipated that the more premium BiFrost edition will exceed this figure. Acer is yet to detail the availability of the entire lineup, but they confirmed that the Nitro RX 9070 XT OC is scheduled to hit the US market in April.
