Renowned for its portable gaming devices, Ayaneo has just taken the wraps off its newest top-tier model, the Ayaneo 3. Sticking close to the design success of its forerunner, the Ayaneo 3 carries forward the familiar shape and button setup but packs in notable hardware upgrades.
In a post on its blog, Ayaneo revealed that the Ayaneo 3 will offer buyers a choice between an AMD Ryzen 7 8840U processor and the beefier AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370. To enhance user experience, it boasts a vibrant seven-inch high-refresh LCD or OLED HDR screen for that truly immersive gaming adventure. Adding more to its appeal, Ayaneo has introduced two extra buttons on the back, aiming to offer users a wider array of control possibilities.
However, if you’re keen on specifics about its RAM, storage options, or how much it’ll set you back, you’ll need to hold on a bit longer as Ayaneo has yet to spill those details. Reflecting on its predecessor, the Ayaneo 2 came with memory options of 16GB or 32GB and storage choices ranging from 512GB, 1TB, to a massive 2TB. With a starting price of $1,099, going up to $1,549 for the limited B.Duck edition, it’s a reasonable guess that the Ayaneo 3 will follow a similar pattern, potentially at a slightly higher price.
Intriguingly, the Ayaneo 3 is among the pioneering handheld consoles to embrace the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 chip. Although today’s games don’t fully leverage the NPU in the HX 370, its additional cores, the next-gen Zen 5 architecture, and the AMD Radeon 890M integrated graphics are definitely a leap up from the Ryzen 7 8840U. This power bump places it ahead of many leading PC gaming handhelds, most of which are fueled by the Ryzen Z1 Extreme.
As the Ayaneo 3 prepares to enter an already bustling market filled with outstanding choices, anticipation builds for how it will set itself apart. Competitors like the ROG Ally 2, MSI Claw 8 AI+, and Lenovo Legion Go Gen Two are eyeing market entry by year’s end or early 2025. It will be fascinating to see what unique experience the Ayaneo 3 serves up for handheld gaming enthusiasts.
