Assassin’s Creed Shadows invites players to embark on an epic journey across the vast landscapes of central Japan, offering countless hours of adventure. Thanks to the latest update, your travels through the beautiful countryside are about to become even more relaxed. A familiar feature has made its welcome return to the game in the debut of the first major patch.
On Tuesday morning, the 1.0.2 update was launched across all platforms, and it promises to rekindle a beloved element from past Assassin’s Creed games. The update tweaks the “pathfinder” feature for your mount, meaning your horse can now automatically navigate the roads using the game’s built-in GPS. This convenient feature has been missed since its absence at the initial launch of Shadows, as it was a staple in previous entries like Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla. But fear not, you still have the option to take the reins and guide your horse if you prefer a more hands-on approach.
Additionally, the patch brings a thoughtful touch to the game’s stunning photo mode. The GPS line, which previously made an unwelcome appearance during screenshots, will no longer interfere. Not stopping there, the update improves horse handling by increasing their speeds in urban areas, making your in-game city travels swifter.
The patch doesn’t just end at enhancing your equestrian experience. It introduces a handy new feature allowing players to sell or dismantle loot in bulk. Forget the tedious item-by-item process; now you can clear your inventory much more efficiently at the shop or Forge. Within the Hideout, the update has lifted the frame rate cap, letting the game exceed the previous 30 FPS limit. PlayStation 5 Pro players will also notice the addition of Sony’s Spectral Super Resolution, which enhances image quality through advanced upscaling techniques.
Among the highlights of this update is the newfound ability to reset individual Mastery nodes in Naoe’s and Yasuke’s skill trees. This comes alongside existing capabilities to respec entire skill categories like Tools or Shinobi, offering more precise customization. Navigating menus is also a breeze now, thanks to a new shortcut that whisks you straight to the beautifully designed objective board with just a press of a button.
Interestingly, what this update doesn’t do is adjust the immensely powerful legendary tanto, the Igan Sunset. Known for its extraordinary perk, which allows Naoe to dart between foes with deadly efficiency, it remains untouched and ready for action, much to the delight (or dismay) of many players.
For those who want to delve into the nitty-gritty details, a full list of the patch notes, including a variety of bug fixes, is available on Ubisoft’s official website.
