When it comes to standout games of 2023, Baldur’s Gate 3 has undoubtedly made its mark, garnering multiple Game of the Year accolades. While it has captivated its audience, there were several highly anticipated features that fans felt were missing. Fortunately, Patch 8 is set to address those gaps.
What Exciting Features Await in Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 8?
The upcoming Patch 8 represents a significant milestone for the much-loved RPG, Baldur’s Gate 3. Slated for release early next year, this update promises a plethora of new features: cross-play ability, a photo mode, and an addition of 12 new subclasses. Players across all platforms, including PS5, will have access to this update.
As shared in the recent Baldur’s Gate 3 Community Update, one of the standout features is the introduction of cross-play. This means players can seamlessly team up across PS5, PC, Xbox, and Mac. To enjoy cross-platform play, players need to activate this option and have a Larian Network account set up.
Another major addition is the photo mode, offering players the chance to capture their epic in-game moments. This feature brings a variety of camera settings, including options to spotlight specific characters, adjust lenses, and apply scene settings. It even comes with post-processing effects, frames, and stickers to personalize each snap. You can use this photo mode during live gameplay and even in cinematics, though adjusting camera and lens settings during cutscenes won’t be possible.
The most exciting part for many could be the introduction of 12 new subclasses, each expanding the game’s existing classes with fresh abilities, stunning animations, VFX, summons, and cantrips. Here’s a sneak peek at what’s coming:
- Bard – College of Glamour
- Barbarian – Path of Giants
- Cleric – Death Domain
- Druid – Circle of Stars
- Paladin – Oath of the Crown
- Fighter – Arcane Archer
- Monk – Drunken Master
- Ranger – Swarmkeeper
- Rogue – Swashbuckler
- Sorcerer – Shadow Magic
- Warlock – Hexblade
- Wizard – Bladesinging
Larian Studios plans to thoroughly test Patch 8 for Baldur’s Gate 3, ensuring a smooth experience. PS5 players interested in joining the stress test can register come January. Detailed instructions will be shared in the studio’s next Community Update.
