Bigscreen has recently revealed its cutting-edge Beyond PC VR headset, and it’s set to revolutionize the at-home and business VR experience. By incorporating advanced pancake lenses, this headset promises an enhanced field-of-view (FOV) and increased clarity. What’s more, they’ve made it even more appealing with a new adjustable interpupillary distance (IPD) and a universal Lightseal facial interface, ensuring comfort and precision for all users.
In an exciting development, Bigscreen is rolling out two variations of this next-gen headset: the Beyond 2 and the Beyond 2e. Interestingly, the ‘e’ in Beyond 2e signals the addition of eye-tracking capabilities, differentiating it from the Apple naming conventions. Both headsets feature an AI-powered, minimal eye-tracking unit that promises low-latency and privacy-focused tracking. Besides, it’s fully compatible with SteamVR, OpenXR, and platforms like VRChat, with a beta expected in Summer 2025.
When it comes to price, the headsets will be available at $1,019 for the Beyond 2 and $1,219 for the Beyond 2e. Loyal customers who previously owned the original Beyond can snag them at $849 and $1,049, respectively. Anticipating demand, Bigscreen plans to launch the first series in April, along with a halo-style strap mount in Q3 2025. To top it off, both Beyond 2 models come in three eye-catching colors: Carbon Black, Crystal Clear, and Nuclear Orange.
Just like the original Beyond model, these sleek and lightweight headsets will operate on SteamVR’s tracking standard, supporting various SteamVR accessories, including body trackers and Valve’s Index controllers. However, you’ll need a VR-ready PC and the required base stations to enjoy the full experience. Check out their compatibility guide to ensure your setup is ready.
While the new Beyond 2 models share the same 2,560 × 2,560 micro-OLED displays as the 2023 version, they shine with upgraded pancake lenses that expand the FOV from 102 to a remarkable 116 degrees diagonally. They also weigh 16% less, tipping the scales at just 107 grams. This makes them considerably lighter than competitors like the Meta Quest 3 or the Apple Vision Pro.
Bigscreen has also achieved enhanced brightness and significantly reduced glare thanks to the impressive new lens design, offering total edge-to-edge clarity and a larger sweet spot. Moreover, a newly introduced adjustable IPD system allows for precise tuning with an included tool, showcasing the millimeter scale inside the headset for personalized viewing comfort.
For accessory fans, Beyond 2 retains compatibility with custom-fit cushions from Beyond 1 but launches with a universal-fit Lightseal interface to enhance shareability and appeal to enterprise users. Previous attachments like the fiber optic cable and Audio Strap will also work seamlessly with the new headsets, although note that older prescription lens inserts won’t fit the Beyond 2e model.
The headset package includes a soft strap, but Bigscreen is also introducing a unique halo-style mount, expected to launch in Q3 2025. Inspired by night vision goggles, this innovative accessory boasts adjustable eye relief and is versatile enough to work with several strap configurations.
For those eager to own the Beyond 2, orders can be placed on Bigscreen’s official website, with shipments originating from their factory in Los Angeles to various countries, including the US, UK, and Japan, among others. There are plans to broaden availability to locations like South Korea and UAE later this year.
