Sid Meier’s Civilization VII is branching out into the world of virtual reality, with a special edition launching exclusively for Quest 3 and 3S next week.
Teaming up with Meta, Playside Studios is bringing Sid Meier’s Civilization VII – VR to the Quest platform on April 10th. This VR adaptation will feature both single-player campaigns and online multiplayer options, so you can engage with friends or challenge other Quest 3 users anytime.
The VR version stays true to its PC and console roots where the central objective is to navigate your chosen nation through the annals of history. You have the opportunity to select a leader, forge alliances, or engage in strategic battles against other global powers.
If you’ve never tried the game before, here’s what you can expect: Civilization VII – VR invites you to start your journey from one of several distinct historical eras, each presenting its own set of trials and perks. For instance, the Antiquity Age is where you lay the groundwork for your civilization, while the Exploration Age beckons you to discover new territories. As you advance, the Modern Age challenges you with incredible advancements in technology and industry.
The real game-changer for this VR edition? A lifelike ‘War Table’ that immerses you into a strategic realm like never before. Not only does it allow you to manage your empire tabletop-style, but you can also zoom, pan, and adjust the perspective for the best tactical view.
As you dive into this virtual experience, you’ll encounter rival civilizations, negotiating peace or planning wars using your diplomatic skills. The game also comes equipped with virtual and mixed reality modes, the latter offering a passthrough mode to blend game elements with your actual environment around you.
Eager to get started? Sid Meier’s Civilization VII – VR is now available for preorder on the Horizon Store for both Quest 3 and Quest 3S, priced at $60.
