Today marks an exciting moment as we’ve opened the gates to Warhammer 40,000: Darktide for PS5 players who pre-ordered the Imperial Edition. The thrill doesn’t stop there; we’re thrilled to announce that the game will be accessible to all PS5 players starting December 3.
Darktide made its debut on PC back in November 2022, and since then, we’ve been tirelessly expanding the experience. We’ve rolled out nine significant additions and over 25 updates brimming with content and improvements. The PS5 launch is perfectly timed with our 10th major free update, Grim Protocols. And that’s not all – there’s plenty more to come in the future!
### Experience Fast-Paced Combat, Fatshark Style
Creating a game set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe has long been our dream. Darktide is the realization of that dream, offering a four-player co-op action experience. You take on the role of a conscripted convict, or Reject, aiding the Inquisition in reclaiming Tertium, a city besieged by Chaos hordes. To survive, you’ll seamlessly shift between melee and ranged combat – a hybrid system we’ve poured our hearts into perfecting.
### Introducing Warhammer 40,000: Darktide to PS5 and PS5 Pro
Bringing Darktide to PS5 was about delivering the ultimate experience for players. We invested significant time and effort to adapt the game to make the most of PS5’s capabilities. Players can choose between Performance mode, running at a smooth 60FPS on 1440p resolution, or Quality mode, at 30FPS with stunning 4K visuals. For those on PS5 Pro, PSSR technology ensures a steady 60FPS in glorious 4K resolution.
Our team also focused on enhancing the gaming experience through DualSense controller’s adaptive triggers and haptic feedback. We wanted the controller to feel like a seamless extension of Darktide. Whether you’re firing explosive rounds from the iconic Boltgun, aiming precisely with a Lasgun, or unleashing psyker powers with a Force Staff, each weapon brings a unique tactile feedback, enhancing your connection to the game.
Automatic weapons are more satisfying than ever, thanks to the DualSense controller’s haptic rumble and trigger effects. As your ammunition runs low, feel the increasing intensity of the triggers – it’s a visceral reminder in the heat of battle. The tactile sensation of the Chainsword’s spinning blades cutting through enemies is disgustingly delightful. We can’t wait for you to experience these features first-hand on December 3.

Each class features a detailed talent tree, allowing for deep customization of your play style within three main sub-classes – and beyond. Our Itemization overhaul expands your freedom, letting you gain expertise in any of the 40+ weapon families, enhancing your battlefield prowess.

We’re unveiling a new endgame mode, Havoc, designed to challenge even the most seasoned operatives. Before stepping into this arena of peril, you’ll need to conquer Tertium first.
