If you’ve recently come across an unusual bug in Destiny 2, don’t fret—Bungie’s decided to leave it be intentionally.
What’s fascinating is how games, unlike other media, seem to embrace bugs and glitches as part of the experience. Sure, live theater can have its unexpected moments, but it’s not quite the same given the dynamic nature of gaming. Occasionally, developers even adopt these quirks, turning them into beloved features. Take Celeste, for example, where players found single-pixel gaps in spike walls that you could dash through, prompting developers to add a unique animation to celebrate players executing the trick. It’s a fun twist! Although Bungie hasn’t gone to those lengths with Destiny 2’s latest glitch, they’ve certainly welcomed this particular bug.
After the recent launch of Heresy, players started noticing that three exotic glaive weapons—specifically the Edge of Intent, Edge of Concurrence, and Edge of Action, known to be class-exclusive—were now usable across any class. To Bungie’s surprise, this change sparked a wave of excitement among players. In a blog post last week, they mentioned witnessing “some great celebrations with the removal of these constraints.”
Bungie initially considered fixing the bug to maintain the game’s class-based dynamics. “Seeing a Warlock or Hunter spawning a mini-bubble or a Titan dashing around like a ninja was unexpected,” they noted. However, after some internal discussions, they decided to let this bug stay, describing it as “a fun example of a bug becoming a feature.”
Yet, Bungie did caution players that certain animations might appear a bit off since these combinations weren’t originally planned. Through team discussions, they uncovered that “class-based Glaives open up some intriguing new opportunities for buildcrafting.” They also promised to keep a close eye on how these Glaives perform across all classes moving forward.
Importantly, Bungie clarified they won’t always embrace bugs as features. This one just seemed right. So, while it’s tempting to wish every glitch would stick around, it’s best not to hold your breath. After all, the gaming world loves to keep us guessing!
