If you were gearing up to catch Star Wars: Skeleton Crew on Disney Plus on December 3, you might need to adjust your plans a bit. Disney has decided to give fans a little treat by pushing the premiere forward by a day. Yes, you heard right—the show will now debut on December 2. While moving it up by just one day might not seem all that significant, it’s one of those decisions that probably only Disney could fully justify. Nevertheless, fans won’t be complaining, especially since the launch includes a two-episode premiere. So if episode one draws you in, you won’t be left hanging for long.
Adding more excitement to the announcement, Disney also unveiled the directors for each of the show’s eight episodes, and you might recognize a few names. Starting things off is Jon Watts, the genius behind the Tom Holland Spider-Man series, and he’ll also be directing the final episode. David Lowery, known for a diverse range of films from last year’s Peter Pan & Wendy to more intense dramas like The Green Knight and A Ghost Story, will direct episodes two and three. The Daniels, who really made their mark with 2022’s Everything Everywhere All at Once, will take the helm for episode four, while Jake Schreier, soon to showcase his talent in Marvel’s upcoming Thunderbolts, will tackle episode five.
Episode six is in the hands of Bryce Dallas Howard, a familiar face to Star Wars enthusiasts thanks to her work on The Mandalorian. Lee Isaac Chung, who also lent his directing skills to The Mandalorian and was involved in this year’s cinematic hit Twisters, will take charge of episode seven.
As for the plot, Skeleton Crew is set to take viewers on an adventurous ride following four kids who stumble upon a mysterious discovery on their ostensibly safe home planet. This leads them into a labyrinthine galaxy filled with danger. Along the way, they encounter unexpected allies and foes, making their journey home more thrilling than they could ever dream. Among the cast, Jude Law stands out as the most recognizable face. The show promises to evoke the adventurous spirit reminiscent of a Spielberg classic.
So, get ready for what promises to be a grand adventure in the Star Wars universe with Skeleton Crew.
