HOOP-O Studios, a fresh face in the indie game development scene, has some exciting news for mixed reality enthusiasts: their upcoming remote-controlled dogfighting game, “Alex and the Jets,” is set to debut on the Quest 3 next month.
This game offers a delightful arcade-style flying experience, where players pilot Alex the Squirrel in an adorable little propeller plane. Your mission? Fend off aerial foes from the notorious gang known as ‘The Jets.’ These crafty adversaries come at you through wall-embedded portals, prompting you to take them down while skillfully navigating through donut-shaped goals. These rings aren’t just for show—they’re packed with weapon upgrades and health boosts to aid you in battle.
But if combat isn’t your thing, don’t worry. The game features a free roam mode, allowing you to fly around at your own pace, free of stress. You can also keep track of your scores with local leaderboards and even hit up the in-game store to unlock snazzy new outfits for Alex.
What’s impressive, as HOOP-O points out, is that the gameplay footage in the trailer was shot directly from the device using the headset’s built-in camera. This gives a good sense of what the actual gaming experience will be like.
While we don’t have an exact release date just yet, HOOP-O Studios has indicated they’re aiming for an April launch on the Horizon Store. When it drops, it’ll be available for both Quest 3 and the upcoming Quest 3S. Keep an eye out!
