Game Source Entertainment and Tokyo Virtual Theory (TVT) have exciting news for rhythm game enthusiasts: their upcoming rhythm roguelike action game, Ratatan, is set to make its way to the Nintendo Switch.
Ratatan is a spiritual successor to the well-loved Patapon series, developed by Japan Studio and Pyramid. The game is set on Rataport, an island buzzing with life like a colorful toy box amidst a serene and expansive sea. Here, you’ll encounter Ratatan, a peculiar animal-like creature, who enjoys life with its companions, the Cobun.
Despite their different looks and personalities, Ratatan and the Cobun share a collective dream: reaching The Everafter to meet The Goddess, rumored to reside there. Their determination is unwavering—their quest continues no matter how often they stumble, as they hold on to the hope of finally meeting her.
In an exciting collaboration, the game is being developed with the expertise of Hiroyuki Kotani, the producer of the Patapon series. Players step into the shoes of Ratatan, wielding magical instruments to deliver commands in perfect rhythm, directing the Cobun armies in combat. Mastering the rhythm sequences not only leads to victory but also triggers Fever Mode, a state where the music dynamically changes and characters showcase thrilling new actions.
Set to be digitally released on the Nintendo eShop, Ratatan will be available for Nintendo Switch players around the globe in 2025.
