Updated January 21, 2025: With the arrival of another week in Destiny 2, a fresh set of missions, challenges, and rewards are now in motion. We’ve entered the final fortnight of Episode Revenant, and it appears Bungie has a few more surprises lined up to keep us entertained before the debut of Destiny 2 Episode Heresy and the much-awaited return of the Dreadnaught.
In this week’s reset, Bungie has introduced a brand-new event, Past is Prologue. This event mirrors the format of Riven’s Wishes from the Season of the Wish, where players strive to complete quests to earn up to 8 Bento Tokens. These tokens can be exchanged for some incredible and rare loot, among them the sought-after Chatterwhite shader. But a word to the wise: you won’t be able to scoop up all the rewards, so pick wisely.
Beyond this, the usual weekly updates have landed, teeing up a renewed slate of content and activities for all the eager Guardians out there. For those itching to dig into the new offerings for the week of January 21, from Nightfalls to Crucible modes and other challenges, here’s what you need to gear up for.
Nightfall Strike: Liminality
Advanced Modifiers: Expect champions with Barrier and Unstoppable traits. The Hero difficulty throws in extra shields and a mix of Solar, Void, and Arc elements. The challenge continues with Galvanized combatants showcasing more health and ferocity. Machine Guns and Kinetic Weapons supercharge if your subclass matches any activating Surge element, but watch out for Stasis Threats and Void or Arc Surges.
Expert, Master, and Grandmaster Modifiers: Building upon earlier challenges, these add layers of difficulty like Locked Equipment, Randomized Banes, and other obstacles, each more daunting than the last. Also, Grandmaster layers in Extinguish, Limited Revives, and more.
The hammer to fight for? The Slammer, a Heavy Sword, is the coveted Nightfall weapon this week.
Episode Revenant Challenges: The episode’s challenges have all been unlocked, allowing you to take on any that might have been left unfinished.
Exotic Mission Rotation: Exotic missions have been cycled in for you to pursue, with unique rewards and gear plus new craftable exotic weapons up for grabs. This week’s spotlight is on the Starcrossed mission, featuring the Wish Keeper Exotic Combat Bow.
Raid and Dungeon Rotation: In keeping with Episode Revenant, Bungie is highlighting two Raids and two Dungeons each week, starting with the Vault of Glass and Crota’s End Raids, accompanied by the Grasp of Avarice and Warlord’s Ruin Dungeons.
Raid Challenges: Various raid challenges like Salvation’s Edge: Scenic Route and others await, allowing players to test their mettle.
Ritual Activities and Legacy Challenges: Engaging in rituals such as Vanguard Strikes, Crucible, and Gambit paves the way for additional rewards through the Pathfinder system. Meanwhile, legacy activities continue to offer their own unique challenges across destinations like Europa, Neomuna, and others.
Dares of Eternity Rotation: Tackle rounds against Hive, Vex, and finish with a showdown against Valus Ta’aurc.
Xur’s Exotic Merchandises: Every weekend, Xur pops in with exotic goods available until reset. His inventory currently includes The Stag, Wormhusk Crown, and other legendary pieces, along with valuable items like Exotic Engrams and Enhancement Cores.
Trials of Osiris: While there are no Trials this week due to the Iron Banner event, when Trials are active, flawless victors gain exclusive access to the Lighthouse’s lucrative rewards.
