Lately, the modding community for Helldivers 2 has been flexing its creative muscles, churning out some impressive mods. If you’re fond of games like Crazy Taxi or Halo 3: ODST, you’ll find their latest offerings quite intriguing. One standout mod, in particular, has caught my attention: it’s the inaugural full-fledged “Warbond” mod, and it’s turning heads for all the right reasons.
Now, a quick note before we dive deeper: this mod is more of a “Warbond-like” creation. It might not feature every single nuance of the official Warbonds that Arrowhead releases, but if you’re interested in experimenting with new armor, this mod has plenty to offer.
The creator behind this intriguing mod, a modder known as Jayypino, has named it ‘Dogmatic Reach.’ The reasons behind this naming choice become evident pretty quickly once you delve into the mod’s features.
What you’re getting is a collection of new armor sets and helmets that artfully merge Helldivers 2 and Halo 3: ODST aesthetics. The result is a look that pays homage to the Spartan vibe without veering into cosplay territory, like mods that transform you into Master Chief. According to Jayypino, this creation is “something different, but familiar,” featuring “custom vanilla-styled textures” designed to seamlessly integrate with the existing armor sets.
Each of these new armor sets, which replace the ones currently in-game, comes with alternative color schemes. You can add menacing details like teeth to your helmet or opt for a blue palette that complements another of Jayypino’s Warbond-style mods, ‘The Grave Situation Team’s SEAF Specialists.’
To experience this mod first-hand, you’ll need to download the latest iteration of Teutinsa’s ‘HD2 Mod Manager.’ Once you have it set up, you’ll be ready to get acquainted with the trio of new armors: Chimera, Hydra, and Cyclops.
The HD2 community isn’t just resting on its laurels either. Recently, a dataminer accidentally stumbled upon an “Illuminate Aurora Borealis” by tinkering with obelisks, and an enthusiastic artist has imagined a 14-page concept of what an indoor dungeon mission might entail. Clearly, there’s no shortage of creativity and excitement in this vibrant community!
