Hello, fellow adventurer who thought they were ready for the whirlwind ride of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, only to find yourself battling motion sickness more than the bad guys. You’ve landed in the right spot. Like you, I struggled with our hero’s unusual head bobbing in this first-person adventure. But don’t worry—after diving deep into the settings menu and making a few adjustments, I can finally enjoy the game without feeling queasy, and I’m here to share my discoveries with you.
Is the motion still a little jarring at times? Definitely. Am I hoping the team at MachineGames decides to drop the head bob altogether? Yes, please! But until they do, here’s how you can better enjoy the journey.
Start by hitting the options menu and heading to “Video.” Here’s the big one: if you’re on a PC, you’re in luck—you can tweak the Field of View (FOV) slider. Bump that up to at least 100, though I’d recommend pushing it to 110. Play around to find the sweet spot that suits you.
For both console and PC players: scroll down to Motion Blur and switch it off. I appreciate that it might have been included for style, but your stomach will thank you.
Another setting worth fiddling with is “Picture Framing.” It’s right at the top of the menu. I’ve swapped my game to “Cinematic” mode, meaning both gameplay and cutscenes feature those dramatic black bars. It’s meant to give a movie-like vibe. While it’s not my favorite look (I find it a little cheesy), it does help ease the motion discomfort.
We’re not finished yet. Head over to the “Accessibility” menu for some final tweaks.
Here, you can revisit the Field of View and Motion Blur adjustments, but we’ve already taken care of those, haven’t we?
Focus on setting Camera Stabilization to “on” and turning Screen Shake off. These changes can really help improve the experience.
And finally, consider sitting a bit further from your screen. This can make a noticeable difference in how you feel. While you’re in the menu, increase the subtitle size to make sure you can still read them comfortably from a distance.
If, after all this, you’re still struggling and using a PC, it might be worth waiting for a mod to come out that can either tone down Indy’s head bob or perhaps even switch the game to a third-person perspective. Until then, these tweaks are the best we have. Good luck, and happy adventuring!
