IO Interactive, the creative minds behind the Hitman series, have decided to part ways with renowned mixed martial artist Conor McGregor. This comes after the athlete lost a civil case where he was accused of rape, a development that IO Interactive acknowledged publicly via Twitter.
Within the game’s universe, McGregor was featured in The Disruptor DLC. However, in light of the court’s decision, the studio felt compelled to reassess their relationship with him. “The recent court ruling involving Conor McGregor has led us to an important decision,” IO Interactive stated. “We have chosen to conclude our partnership with him immediately. The seriousness of the situation can’t be understated, and we must consider its broader impact.”
As part of this decision, the company is taking steps to remove all content featuring McGregor from their storefronts, starting immediately. The announcement marks a significant shift for both the company and the game’s community, reflecting IO Interactive’s commitment to their values.
