As we roll into February 2025, typically a slow period for major video game releases (with one having been pushed back), we’ve got some exciting news. The quirky driving RPG, Keep Driving, is coming our way soon. In this unique title, you’ll engage in turn-based combat while gathering all sorts of goodies along the way.
If you haven’t heard of this charming game yet, let me fill you in. I had the chance to try out its demo during last year’s Steam Next Fest, and trust me, it’s quite the ride. Picture this: a road trip to your buddy’s house, but with your car and yourself needing to battle through not just traffic, but hunger, fatigue, and other typical challenges of the open road.
Mark your calendars because the full version of Keep Driving is set to hit Steam on February 6th, courtesy of Swedish developer YCJY Games, who just announced the release date in a cheerful tweet.
The new trailer gives us a taste of what to expect—imagine facing off against tractors, sheep, and potholes in strategic car skirmishes. Plus, you’ll get a sneak peek at the different vehicles you can load up with essentials for you, your ride, and any hitchhikers you pick up. While I was fond of the demo’s not-quite-a-Volvo, the thought of switching it up for a pickup truck has my inner Johnny Cash fan nodding in approval.
Although Keep Driving is currently slated for PC only, one of the developers hinted in a reply that they’re considering console releases in the future, with the Nintendo Switch being a likely candidate. I’m just hoping there’s a PS2 version in the works so I can seamlessly drift between this and some old-school Need For Speed Underground.
For now, let’s keep our fingers crossed that the full game keeps the vibes as vibrant and engaging as ever.
