When Sony announced that its exclusive games would be making their way to PC, fans were thrilled. However, the joy was somewhat dampened by the requirement to create a PlayStation Network (PSN) account to access those games. But now, there’s good news for PC gamers: as of a recent update, you no longer need a PSN account to enjoy several PlayStation titles on your computer.
This change was highlighted in a blog post by PlayStation’s Asad Qizilbash, who shared news about exciting new in-game incentives coming to some of these PlayStation PC ports. Among the games mentioned are heavy hitters like God of War Ragnarok, Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered, as well as eagerly anticipated titles such as Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered. Qizilbash explained that while a PSN account will be optional starting tomorrow, it’s still necessary for those players interested in unlocking the newest in-game bonuses or earning trophies.
“We’re kicking things off with Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s PC release tomorrow, and we’ve planned some enticing perks for those using a PlayStation Network account," said Qizilbash. "The Last of Us Part II Remastered, slated for release on April 3, 2025, alongside God of War Ragnarok and Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered, will soon provide extra content for players connected to their PSN accounts.”
Qizilbash also noted, “While a PlayStation Network account becomes optional, those who log in will reap benefits like unlocking trophies and managing friends.”
This update will likely be music to the ears of PlayStation enthusiasts playing on PC, as the need for a PSN account was a hot topic, especially following last year’s Helldivers 2 release. Although some unique perks might be missed, it’s a relief for players who prefer not to set up yet another account.
For those open to creating a PSN account, there are some attractive in-game rewards tailored to each PlayStation game on PC:
-
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2: Players can get their hands on the Spider-Man 2099 Black Suit and the Miles Morales 2099 Suit.
-
God of War Ragnarok: Unlock the Armor of the Black Bear set for Kratos at the first Lost Items chest in the Realm Between Realms — an item previously exclusive to a New Game+ run — along with a resource pack containing 500 Hacksilver and 250 XP.
-
The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered: Earn +50 points for unlocking bonus features and extras, plus Jordan’s Jacket from Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet as a skin for Ellie.
- Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered: Debut the Nora Valiant outfit.
This development surely adds a new layer of excitement for PC gamers diving into PlayStation’s robust lineup. (Source: PS Blog)
