We’ve been eagerly awaiting news about the Switch 2 preorders in the United States, and today brings clarity after two weeks of discussions about tariffs.
Nintendo has officially announced that you can preorder the Switch 2 starting April 24, a Thursday. As it stands, the standalone system is priced at $449.99, while the bundle that includes the system and a digital copy of Mario Kart World is set at $499.99.
That said, not everything is set in stone. Nintendo has hinted that some accessory prices might be adjusted due to the ever-changing circumstances. For example, the Switch 2 Pro Controller is now priced at $84.99—up by $5. Similarly, a pair of Switch 2 Joy-Cons now carry a price tag of $94.99. Additionally, if you’re considering a second dock set, expect to pay $119.99, which is $10 more than before. Even smaller items, like extra Joy-Con straps, have seen a subtle increase of $1, now priced at $13.99. In general, most accessories have experienced a $5 hike. You can find a complete list of hardware MSRPs along with confirmed pricing for Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza in the visuals accompanying this article.
For our neighbors up north in Canada, it seems preorders might also commence on the same date. However, with a national holiday affecting announcements, this likely won’t be confirmed today. Yet, Nintendo of Canada assures us the date will align with the U.S., along with Canadian pricing details.
