Get ready to embark on a thrilling space adventure! The indie XR studio, The Binary Mill, has exciting news: their mining escapade Into Black (2024) is making its way to PSVR 2. Previously exclusive to Quest, this intriguing game is set to join the PlayStation world soon, offering players a fresh Deep Rock Galactic-style experience.
Launched initially on Quest back in October, Into Black is an engaging blend of resource scavenging, tool upgrading, and ship repair. Whether you play solo or team up in a four-player co-op, you’ll find yourself battling through more than 20 levels set across diverse and uniquely dangerous biomes. Your mission? Gather the parts you need to escape a hostile alien planet.
But there’s more! The PSVR 2 version introduces the thrilling ‘Singularity’ mode, a PvPvE challenge that pits you against up to 11 other players in a competitive online arena. As The Binary Mill describes it, “Forge uneasy alliances as you navigate an ever-shrinking maze. Gather as much loot as you can, but get too greedy, and you may not make it out at all.”
In a significant upgrade, Into Black is being revamped for PSVR 2. You can expect remastered environments, enhanced lighting effects with dynamic lighting and shadows, HDR and eye-tracked foveated rendering, plus improved haptics thanks to the PS Sense adaptive triggers and the PSVR 2’s headset rumble feature.
Unfortunately, cross-play with Quest isn’t on the cards at launch, as confirmed by The Binary Mill (update below). We’re also keeping our fingers crossed for a trailer that really showcases all the PSVR 2 enhancements. For now, there are a few tantalizing images and gifs to whet your appetite.
Though a specific release date remains under wraps, The Binary Mill promises it will be “soon.” In the meantime, you can head to the PlayStation Store and wishlist Into Black for PSVR 2 so you’re ready to dive in as soon as it drops.
