It looks like Warner Bros has decided to pull the plug on an expansion for Hogwarts Legacy. According to Bloomberg, there was a plan in the works for this expansion to be released alongside a Definitive Edition of the Harry Potter action RPG. This version was rumored to have included new storylines to enhance the experience.
However, Warner Bros didn’t feel the amount of content proposed for the expansion was enough to justify the cost they had in mind. Both Avalanche Software, the original creators of the game, and Rocksteady were involved in developing this expansion. Interestingly, Avalanche is also reportedly working on a sequel to Hogwarts Legacy.
In other news from Rocksteady, the studio faced a round of layoffs after announcing the end of its support for 2024’s upcoming game, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.
Warner Bros has been experiencing some challenges with its gaming division, having revealed last year that it wasn’t performing as well as hoped. The company even took a $200 million write-off for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. As part of its recent restructuring, Warner Bros also shut down three of its studios, including Monolith, and it just came to light that David Haddad, who has led the games division for quite some time, has stepped down.
