Dave Baszucki, the CEO of Roblox, has a straightforward piece of advice for parents worried about the platform: if it feels unsafe, keep your kids off of it.
In a conversation with the BBC, Baszucki, who helped found the popular gaming service, shared his perspective that any negative interaction on Roblox is one too many.
“My main message would be, if you’re uneasy about it, just don’t allow your children to engage with Roblox,” he mentioned.
While it might seem a bit contradictory, he emphasizes that trusting parents to make the best choices for their children is key.
When asked about reports highlighting negative experiences and misuse by bad actors on the platform, Baszucki reiterated, “Within our company, we maintain a stance that even a single negative incident is unacceptable. We actively monitor for bullying and harassment, filtering out such behavior. Behind the scenes, our analysis can extend to collaborating with law enforcement if it’s necessary.”
This discussion is part of ongoing efforts by Roblox to reinforce child safety, triggered by concerns about misuse of the platform by individuals with ill intentions.
