Sony Reveals 2024’s Top Downloaded Games for PSVR 2

Sony has recently shared its roundup of the most downloaded games across its PlayStation platforms for 2024. Unsurprisingly, the lineup hasn’t changed much compared to what we saw during PSVR 2’s debut year, but that’s pretty much what we expected.

At almost two years since its launch, the PSVR 2 hasn’t exactly had a smooth ride. Critics have pointed out the scarcity of exclusive titles and the less robust developer support compared to the first PSVR. However, fans passionate about the headset might argue otherwise.

One can’t deny the PSVR 2’s impressive capabilities. It surpasses Meta’s Quest 3 with higher render resolutions and enhanced visual fidelity. Plus, it supports PC VR gaming thanks to a wired adapter Sony introduced last June. Yet, when it comes down to the games people are actually downloading from the PlayStation Store, the numbers tell the true story.

In both North America and Europe, the beloved rhythm game Beat Saber from 2018 claimed the number one spot. It’s hardly surprising, really—it’s practically a must-play for anyone new to VR.

The fresh faces on the 2024 list include Vertigo Games’ Metro Awakening, which had its debut in November 2024, and Legendary Tales by Urban Wolf Games, which officially launched across all major VR platforms the previous February following an extensive Early Access phase on Steam.

Though it might seem like a short timeframe, Vertigo Games’ gripping sequel, Arizona Sunshine 2, hit the scene in December 2023, which means it only had a month to leave its mark on the 2023 downloads tally.

Familiar titles are indeed still hanging in there. For a bit of context, take a look at the top downloads of PSVR 2 for 2023, the year it had almost fully to itself after its February launch:
