Studio Fizbin, the creative minds behind the game Reignbreaker, has announced that they will be closing their doors at the end of the month. This news was shared on their website, following an announcement that Reignbreaker is set to be released on March 18th. Alexander Pieper, the founder and CEO of Studio Fizbin, explained that the closure was largely influenced by a decision from their parent company, Thunderful, which opted to “drastically reduce internal development.”
Pieper expressed in his statement, “The gaming industry is navigating challenging waters right now, and like many other amazing studios, we’ve felt the impact over these past months.” He detailed how Thunderful’s drastic cutback in internal projects, a move highlighted by Thunderful’s CEO Martin in their recent quarterly report, directly affected the future of Studio Fizbin. Since Thunderful’s decision in November 2024, Studio Fizbin explored various new ventures to pursue post-Reignbreaker; however, none gained the traction needed to move forward, prompting this tough decision to close.
“We are incredibly grateful to our fans for their purchases, fan art, comments, and reviews. Your endless support and passion have been our inspiration,” Pieper continued, expressing heartfelt thanks. He went on to acknowledge their business partners, including Medienboard, MfG, Creative Europe, and federal funding partners, for their invaluable support over the years.
Lastly, Pieper gave a special shout-out to the Studio Fizbin team, appreciating those who have been with them until the closing chapter and those who have ventured onward. “Fizbin’s essence lies in its team members,” he remarked, “and you all have contributed to transforming this into an incredible space for achieving what many consider the toughest feat in creativity: making games.”
