The Sims 4 has been around for a solid decade now, but those of us who are fans of the franchise’s early days fondly recall the infamous burglar character. One of the most entertaining aspects of The Sims series has always been the unexpected moments of chaos, whether it’s a fire breaking out in the kitchen or a meteor coming down through your roof. Among these exhilarating disruptions was the burglar, and I’m excited to say they’re finally making a grand comeback with today’s free update.
Long-time Sims enthusiasts have been eager for the burglar’s return, reminiscent of the beloved menace from the first three games. Many couldn’t wait and took it upon themselves to incorporate this character into Sims 4 using fan-made mods.
This sneaky character, humorously dubbed Robin Banks, is a crafty thief who prefers the cover of night to carry out her mischief. If your Sim happens to be a night owl, you might even catch her in the act and call the police in time for an arrest. To add to the fun, you can equip your home with burglar alarms, which can be enhanced to thwart her attempts more effectively. According to a developer’s diary, Sims can react to a burglar in 50 different ways, ranging from picking a fight to using a freeze ray to immobilize them.
But here’s a twist — for those who like to keep things interesting, your Sims could choose to befriend or even woo Robin, adding her to their household. If Robin moves in or meets an unfortunate end, she’ll simply be replaced by another similarly skilled Sim.
In a delightful touch, this update interplays nicely with other expansions. For example, if you own the Cats and Dogs pack, a trusty canine can be your Sim’s defense against Robin. Werewolves have the knack for scaring her off, while a vampire might just see her late-night visit as a meal opportunity. This clever integration reflects a broader trend in The Sims 4 of enriching gameplay experiences. Similarly, the anticipation builds for the upcoming Businesses and Hobbies expansion, which promises the same level of interconnectedness when it launches on March 6.
