Virtuix has unveiled an exciting addition to its Omni One VR treadmill—an immersive tourism app that allows users to virtually walk through some of the most recognizable places around the globe.
Launching on March 6th, the app, known as TREKS, combines breathtaking video experiences with physical movement, allowing users to virtually explore destinations like the Grand Canyon, Central Park in New York City, and the historic Fort Masmak in Riyadh. This new addition will be exclusive to the Omni One all-in-one system and available for purchase at $30 through the Omni One Game Store.
Upon its debut, TREKS promises an engaging experience through four main attractions:
- Grand Canyon: Stroll along its scenic trails and take in the stunning views of this natural marvel.
- Niagara Falls: Feel the might of the falls from vantage points on both the American and Canadian sides.
- New York City: Dive into the vibrancy of NYC with visits to landmarks like the Statue of Liberty, Times Square, Central Park, and the Brooklyn Bridge.
- Saudi Arabia: Immerse yourself in history with a virtual walk through Fort Masmak and marvel at the architecture of Al Rajhi Mosque.
In the months following the release, Virtuix Studios plans to enrich TREKS with additional content, offering new landmarks, historical sites, and natural wonders as downloadable content. Additionally, they highlight a potentially healthy perk: an hour of traversing through TREKS can burn roughly 500 calories.
Jan Goetgeluk, Virtuix’s CEO, explains, “TREKS doesn’t just let you view these locations—you actually move through them. It’s a fantastic way to stay active while immersing yourself in some of the planet’s most incredible sites. Adventure and fitness are effortlessly intertwined in this experience.”
The Omni One system, offered at $3,495, includes the VR treadmill and a customized Pico 4 Enterprise headset. This system supports apps natively through its internal tech or when connected to a VR-capable PC, either through a wire or wirelessly.
This release follows recent updates, which expanded Omni One’s library to over 55 titles, featuring new entries like Arizona Sunshine Remake, Arizona Sunshine 2, and Into The Radius. Omni One’s system compatibility with SteamVR games is enhanced by the Omni Connect PC Driver, which allows for personalized settings to optimize games not initially designed for immersive walking experiences.
