TT Games is reportedly deep into development on a new LEGO game that’s anticipated to be released by 2026. An industry insider has highlighted that this project, still shrouded in mystery, signals a pivotal moment for the studio, as it would mark their return to the gaming scene after several quiet years. Since 2005, TT Games has delighted fans with 37 LEGO-themed releases, the latest being LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, which made its debut on PC and consoles in April 2022 to much acclaim.
In the latest update, Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier shed light on the situation with TT Games during a recent episode of Kinda Funny Gamescast. Responding to a query about the developer, he indicated that their next venture into the LEGO universe could be as soon as next year. Though he admitted some uncertainty, noting it might appear in 2025, Schreier ultimately leaned towards a more conservative 2026 timeframe.
Back on February 7, Schreier had already touched on TT Games’ upcoming LEGO endeavor while elaborating on wider issues plaguing WB Games, including the rebooting and cancellation of Monolith Productions’ Wonder Woman game after the developer’s closure. His recent comments were the first to nail down a more specific release window for this secretive project.
So, why the slow pace from TT Games lately? Historically, since launching in 2005, they’ve averaged more than 1.5 games each year. However, output hit a snag post-2019, with only a single title released over five and a half years. This slow down reflects broader industry trends where game development timelines have stretched, particularly in the post-pandemic landscape.
TT Games also faced a challenging shift when a wave of senior talent, including founder Jon Burton and design chief Arthur Parsons, departed in 2021. They went on to create 10:10 Games, whose debut game Funko Fusion was released in 2024. According to Game Rant’s review of LinkedIn, 24 more employees left TT Games to join 10:10, a significant talent drain given the caliber of staff involved.
With this backdrop, the anticipation surrounding TT Games’ next LEGO project continues to mount. Fans old and new remain eager to see how the studio will navigate its way back to the forefront of the gaming industry.
