Get ready, Pokémon Go enthusiasts! The Unova Tour event is about to get a fresh twist that will undoubtedly draw in trainers from all corners. This time around, the star of the show is none other than the iconic Pokémon from Pokémon Black 2 and White 2, “White Kyurem” and “Black Kyurem.” These legendary Ice/Dragon type Pokémon will make their grand entrance into Pokémon Go as part of a celebration dedicated to the fifth generation of Pokémon.
Mark your calendars for an exciting debut: these mythical creatures will first appear during live events in the bustling cities of Los Angeles and New Taipei City from February 21 to 23. Can’t make it there? No worries! They will be rolling out globally from March 1 to 2, so trainers all over the world can join in the action.
To get your hands on Black and White Kyurem, you’ll need to tackle some challenging raids, specifically at the second-highest difficulty level. Conquering these tough battles will earn you “Volt Fusion Energy” for Black Kyurem and “Blaze Fusion Energy” for White Kyurem. It’s a concept that might sound familiar if you participated in last summer’s Pokémon Go Fest, where a similar mechanism was employed to create “Dusk Mane Necrozma” and “Dawn Wings Necrozma.”
To pull this off, you’ll need a guiding Kyurem along with either Zekrom or Reshiram. Your Kyurem will dictate the stats, and if it’s shiny, that’s an extra perk! Should your Kyurem possess the Glaciate move, fusing it with Zekrom will unlock “Freeze Shock,” while joining it with Reshiram grants “Ice Burn.” We’ve reached out to the game’s developer, Niantic, to confirm if Kyurem caught during this event will be equipped with Glaciate, making fusion more accessible for players.
Only those participating in person will have the initial opportunity to earn this special energy, although trainers outside these areas can still engage in the raid battles via “remote raids,” albeit limited to five times a day. However, keep in mind that the coveted energy is a reward exclusive to local participants.
Adding a touch of flair, these captured legendary Pokémon will boast unique backgrounds inspired by Pokémon Black and White games. Expect Reshiram to flaunt a Pokémon Black-themed backdrop while Zekrom sports a Pokémon White-inspired one. Kyurem comes with either, and combining Pokémon with contrasting backgrounds, like a Black-themed Kyurem with Zekrom, will unveil a special third design.
So gear up and get out there—this event promises to be a thrilling journey for every Pokémon Go player, bringing new challenges, discoveries, and tons of fun along the way.
