Sid Meier’s Civilization VII is making its way to PC and console players this coming February 11th. Excitingly, the game’s developer, Firaxis, alongside publisher 2K Games, has announced that a special version will also be available on Quest this Spring.
This version, specifically crafted for the Meta Quest 3 and 3S, offers a unique twist. Players will have the chance to construct their own civilization from a first-person perspective, providing an immersive experience as you rise above the maps in both virtual reality (VR) and mixed reality (MR) modes.
The VR adaptation is being developed by PlaySide Studios and will be published by 2K, promising an engaging experience whether you’re playing solo or engaging in online multiplayer. Up to three additional Quest 3 and 3S players can join you, making for some thrilling strategic gameplay.
One of the standout features of this version is how it brings the series’ iconic world leaders to life. As you make pivotal decisions—be they forging alliances or igniting conflicts—you’ll face these characters directly, creating a personal and dynamic interaction.
While a precise release date hasn’t been locked in just yet, 2K has indicated a Spring 2025 launch window, as revealed during the unveiling at this weekend’s Civ World Summit event. Until then, eager players can add Sid Meier’s Civilization VII – VR to their Horizon Store wishlist for both Quest 3 and Quest 3S.
