Winking Studios, a prominent name in the Asian triple-A outsourcing sector, has taken a significant step forward with its acquisition of China’s Mineloader. The agreement, valued at £16.3 million (approximately $19.87 million), involves an immediate payment of $14.7 million, with the rest contingent on Mineloader hitting specific performance benchmarks over the next five years.
Founded back in 2003, Mineloader has established itself as a key player in art outsourcing within the gaming industry. This acquisition marks a major milestone for Winking Studios. “This is our largest acquisition yet and a pivotal move that strengthens our foothold in the global video game scene, paving the way for growth and innovation,” expressed Johnny Jan, CEO and founder of Winking Studios.
He further highlighted the crucial role game art plays in the development process, acting as the visual backbone and creative force that captivates players and enhances their gaming journey. The integration of Mineloader’s team, with its 460-plus employees, is set to significantly bolster Winking Studios’ already substantial workforce of over 800. This acquisition will not only expand their service offerings but also bring new clients into the fold. Jan pointed out that Mineloader’s well-established experience in the Japanese market adds considerable value to Winking Studios’ business network.
